As I reflect on the significant events of 2024, one of the most notable occurrences was the postponement of the Annual Nspired Image Awards, originally scheduled for June 17, 2024. Contrary to some rumors, the delay was not due to financial issues with the venue or the availability of trophies. While we encountered some minor setbacks with two trophies, they were promptly resolved in time for the event.
However, the real reason behind the postponement was deeply personal. My family was on the brink of welcoming a new member through my daughter, who was due to deliver around her late mother's birthday. This was an emotionally charged time for our family. In the midst of preparations, my daughter went missing, triggering a wave of panic for her safety that overwhelmed me and our family. I utilized every resource at my disposal to locate her, and thankfully, I was able to find her. Yet, I was close to having a stroke.
Tragically, my daughter had experienced a miscarriage, which added another layer of emotional turmoil. The implications of this loss, compounded by the existing pressures surrounding us, were immense. In a moment of heightened anxiety, I felt compelled to take protective measures, reaching out to my friends in law enforcement and the medical field for support.
At that time, my focus shifted entirely from the awards to my family's wellbeing. While I was also involved in various projects, including "A Changed Mind" in Houston and collaborating with the Missing & Murdered Children Festival, my heart was heavy with personal concerns. Despite the many responsibilities and honorees traveling in for the awards, it felt as though no one outside my close circle truly understood the weight of what I was facing.
I acknowledge the rumors with laughter that circulated during this challenging period. However, it's essential to recognize that personal struggles often overshadow professional commitments, and the support from my LITTLE circle was invaluable in my healing process. As we move forward, I remain grateful for those who stood by me during this tumultuous time.
Throughout my journey, I have made the conscious decision to distance myself from individuals who were more interested in my talents than in fostering genuine relationships. This realization has been pivotal in my personal growth.
In any storm you may face, it’s crucial to recognize the true intentions of those around you. Just because people are willing to accompany you on your journey does not mean they are aligned with your destiny.
Understanding this distinction has empowered me to cultivate a circle of support that is authentic and nurturing. Surrounding myself with those who genuinely care has allowed me to focus on what truly matters—my well-being and the pursuit of my goals. You may Delayed But You Not Are Denied.
